(VIDEO) NUNES: "REMOVE FISA REDACTIONS"

July 23, 2018 Nunes calls for redactions to FISA warrant to be removed.

Yesterday on Ingraham chairman Nunes said the FISA secret court has to verify information provided to it. "If this is the way the FISA Courts are going to behave, everything is going to fall apart. I don't blame the judges. The judges were mislead." One of the contested points concerning the FISA application is the footnote in which the FBI indicates to the Court that the underlying, unverified Steele "dossier" was paid for by Hillary Clinton and the DNC. There would have been logic in maintaining the same identification method as used throughout the application. Thusly, Trump 'Candidate #1,' Clinton 'Candidate #2,' GOP 'Political Party #1, Democrats 'Political Party #2, etc. So why not tell judges that 'Candidate #2' and 'Political Party #2' funded the "dossier" so the Court could identify it as opposition research instead of evidence? Instead they obfuscated the point beyond recognition. The much maligned Nunes memo turns out to be correct on FISA warrant application. (More)

(VIDEO) THE FISA WARRANT AND THE NUNES MYSTERY

July 22, 2018 The FISA Warrant and a Nunes Mystery Solved?

In the video Tracy Beanz disappears deep into the weeds. And returns with gems for the aficionados. Senator Marco Rubio is proving himself once again on the wrong side of history siding with the deep state. In a tweet he attacked Carter Page, repeating utter nonsense brought up by the IC. It became clear how implausible the alleged Carter Page conspiracy theory is when Steele claimed Page was offered up to 19 percent of Gazprom - a bribe worth more than $30 billion!  Did the FBI tell that to the court? It's laughable on its face. And even more so since Page helped the FBI take down a Russian in 2013. Page was more or less an FBI asset before this conspiracy started. "Two hops" is referring to steps removed from the target the FBI is authorized to look into, based on the FISA warrant. In other words, Page, contacts of Page, and contacts of contacts of Page. That's a hell of dragnet!

(ANALYSIS) FBI RELEASES FISA ABUSE DOCUMENTS

Finally Judicial Watch received some 412 heavily redacted pages under the Freedom of Information Act. But watchers can still glean a lot of intelligence from these documents, if only because it confirms what we already know from the Nunes memo, leaks, and probes from various other quarters. We will try to make the chaotic intelligible without going too deep into the weeds of American jurisprudence. First off, the documents confirm circular reasoning within the FBI. I.e. Hillary and the DNC paid ex British spy Christopher Steele millions to compile the "dossier" with the help of of his Russian contacts This "dossier" supposedly shows that Trump had been colluding with the Kremlin against Hillary.

This unverified pile of fiction was the basis for an article by Hillary operative Michael Isikoff on Yahoo News (via unregistered Ukrainian agent Chalupa). The two "sources" were then used as the basis for a secret FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court) warrant to spy on marginal Trump campaign figure, Carter Page, who by then had left the Trump campaign altogether. FISA warrants extend far beyond the target; in effect anyone Page came into contact with, i.e. the entire Trump campaign was under surveillance. The FISA order was renewed three times. Deputy AG Rosenstein signed off on the final order. In the last congressional hearing Rosenstein refused to state if he actually read the application and its underlying documents. This is the broad outline of the content of the newly released documents. More in the coming days as watchers are combing through all 412 pages.

(VIDEO) NUNES: DOJ "PART OF CLEAN-UP OR COVER-UP CREW"?

June 17, 2018 Devin Nunes talking to Maria Bartiromo.

This week is make or break for the Dept. of Justice. Nunes said this morning that Rosenstein and Wray have to decide this week, if they are part of the cover-up crew or part of the clean-up crew. Since the IG Report was released last Thursday some witnesses changed their testimony. It has now become clear that the FBI was running spies in the Trump campaign from May 2016,  well before the start of the official counter-intelligence investigation. The window for the DoJ to comply with Congress is from tomorrow to Wednesday in order to thwart impeachment of Rosenstein and possibly FBI Director Wray as well.

TWO MEETINGS AT THE DEPT. OF JUSTICE

House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes and Oversight Chairman Trey Gowdy will meet with senior Justice Department, FBI and intelligence officials on Thursday [for a 12:00 meeting]. The two GOP leaders will meet with FBI Director Chris Wray, National Intelligence Dan Coats and Principal Associate Deputy Attorney General Edward O’Callaghan. [General Kelly will also attend.] Nunes demanded the Justice Department hand over the unredacted memo outlining the scope of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s authority and the name of the FBI secret informant inside Trump’s campaign in 2016. Democrat (and leaker) Adam Schiff attacked Nunes for not allowing Democrats into the meeting. Democratic leader Chuck Schumer called the meeting totally inappropriate. (More

(VIDEO) FREEDOM CAUCUS RESOLUTION FOR 2ND SPECIAL COUNSEL

A group of congressional Republicans plans to introduce a resolution today calling for the appointment of a second special counsel to investigate alleged misconduct at the FBI and Justice Department. The resolution is backed by Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., the chairman of the conservative House Freedom Caucus as well as two of the group's co-founders -- Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla. Fox News has learned the 12-page resolution will ask a second special counsel to probe matters related to three topics: The ending of the investigation into Hillary Clinton's personal email server, the progress of the Trump-Russia investigation from its origins through the appointment of Robert Mueller as special counsel, and abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) during the warrant application process. THE "MOTHER OF ALL LEAKS"

Last week, smelling a rat, Nunes cancelled Friday's meeting with the DoJ. He would have been the subject of a possible accusation of leaking classified information, Nunes calls "the Mother of all Leaks" about spies in the Trump campaign fed to the NYT and WaPo. He said on Sunday he will not meet with officials from the Justice Department (DOJ) until he receives documents connected to an FBI source who met with Trump campaign aides in 2016 over alleged contacts between members of the campaign and Russia. (VIDEO) BATTLE BETWEEN CONGRESS AND DOJ CONTINUES

The DoJ has postponed today's meeting with Messrs Nunes and Gowdy, as was expected. The sabotage continues. This is now fast developing into a cold war. Update: turns out Nunes cancelled the meeting because he smelled a rat. Good thing he did. He would have been the subject of an indictment for unauthorized leaking the Mother of all Leaks about spies in the Trump campaign (May 22).

Nunes, Gowdy accuse DOJ of launching anonymous attacks on congressional investigator are accusing the Justice Department of being behind “anonymous attacks” in the press targeting a House Intelligence Committee GOP staffer who helped author the committee’s well-publicized memo (...) Nunes and Gowdy were reacting to a weekend New York Times report that cited anonymous sources in detailing growing tension between the parties, amid a contentious request for records involving an individual and intelligence reporting that may have been used for the Russia case, as well as in obtaining surveillance warrants.
Citing a former federal law enforcement official, The New York Times reported that Rosenstein, who oversees the Russia probe, felt "misled" by Nunes' staff over House Intelligence Committee investigator Kash Patel's travel to London last year. (...) In response to the GOP committee chairmen, Justice Department spokesperson Sarah Isgur Flores said, “As Deputy Attorney General [Rod] Rosenstein has said repeatedly, we don't put a lot of stock in anonymous sources over here and we are committed to continuing to work with Chairmen Gowdy and Nunes to accommodate their requests.” (More

(VIDEO) NUNES TO HOLD DOJ IN CONTEMPT OF CONGRESS

House Intel Ctee chairman Nunes in desperation threatened the DoJ with holding AG Sessions in Contempt of Congress in a last ditch effort to obtain his unredacted order that established the Special Counsel. Judge Ellis in the Manafort case demanded the same (more). On May 3 Assistant Attorney General Stephen Boyd refused to give over the much redacted document (on account of loss of life, yes, really!). But why would a Contempt citation bother the DoJ? Eric Holder got a Contempt of Congress for withholding Fast and Furious documents. Then? Congress never got the documents and the Contempt Citation failed.

In an article on National Review former Prosecutor Andrew McCarthy thinks the President, as head of the Executive Branch has the duty to step in at this point. The redactions of the DoJ are unacceptable (more). Likely Trump's advisers do not at this stage want to insert the perception of obstruction of justice in the media and public opinion, even though legally that would not be the case.

Unredacted documents have shown that Flynn has not lied to the FBI. So what now is the status of the court case against him? It also proves Comey has been lying in all these book tour interviews! As have "anonymous sources" in the FBI in numerous leaks in the media! Vachel Lindsay is reminding us in a thread that the redactions may serve the prosecution of Messrs Comey, McCabe and numerous other cases in the pipeline,

(VIDEO) CNN WINS WHCA AWARD FOR DEEP STATE HOAX

Around 15:00 minutes

CNN walked away with a prestigious journalism award at Saturday night’s White House Correspondent’s Association dinner for their role in making public a briefing by intelligence officials to then President-elect Donald Trump. CNN reported the briefing “included allegations that Russian operatives claim to have compromising personal and financial information about Mr. Trump.” But the information briefed to the President was also leaked to the media by one of the same senior Obama administration officials who orchestrated the briefing and was hired by CNN months later as a paid analyst. Some are questioning now if this was ethical –a pay for play of sorts –as it raises serious questions about the role and responsibility that U.S. intelligence officials have when taking on paid positions as analysts for news organizations, while still retaining their high-level security clearances. It also raises similar questions about news organizations and their role of remaining objective and not paying their sources.  (More)

HOUSE INTEL CTEE RELEASES FINAL REPORT

The House Intelligence Committee released its long-anticipated and highly redacted Russian intelligence report Friday clearing President Donald Trump’s campaign from “colluding” with Russians in the 2016 presidential election and chiding the intelligence community for “significant intelligence tradecraft failings” as the committee found no evidence to date that collusion had occurred. The 248-page report, of which some pages were completely redacted after review by FBI and DOJ officials, have raised the ire of committee Republicans and will lead to a review of the report once again in an effort to un-redact elements of the report that the Committee says does not relate to the classified material. Numerous Congressional committees have complained openly that the DOJ and FBI continue to “stonewall” their investigations and have slow rolled documents needed for adequate oversight of the highly controversial investigations into Trump and the Bureau’s handling of former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server for government business. (VIDEO) THE MEANING OF NUNES' BOMBSHELL INTERVIEW

(...) So what we have now found, after the investigators have reviewed it, is that in fact, there was no intelligence. We have a traditional partnership with what's called the ‘Five Eyes’ agreement. The ‘Five Eyes’ agreement involves our friends in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Canada, and of course, us,” Nunes reiterated. “So, longtime intelligence procedures in place, we are not supposed to spy on each other's citizens, and its worked well, and it continues to work well. We know it's working well because there was no intelligence that passed through the ‘Five Eyes’ channels to our government, and that's why we had to see that original communication.”

What Nunes is suggesting here is that there's a standard operating procedure for any surveillance which against anyone from the five nations mentioned in which there's an official report as to why an individual has been ordered to be monitored using those ‘Five Eyes’ surveillance tools. In the investigation into then-Candidate and eventually President Trump, there was no documentation whatsoever that the surveillance was occurring. Whoever ordered this illicit spying against a candidate for President and the eventual President of the United States of America, did so behind the back of those in agreement with the ‘Five Eyes,’ violating a long-term policy of documenting the surveillance.

It appears as if the outcome of the election was bemused to be in the favor of Hillary Clinton winning, and that this or these entities responsible for the surveillance in the first place, believed that it would never be made public that the surveillance occurred. Essentially, this opens the possibility up that the surveillance used to monitor Donald Trump and his campaign could have easily been handed over to the Clinton Campaign to be used against the Trump Campaign. In fact, during the election season, most Americans will remember Hillary Clinton giving a speech where she condemned Americans as ‘Deplorable,’ even going as far as suggesting that Trump and those Americans were somehow being led by Russia’s Vladimir Putin.

So it would seem to imply that the surveillance used against Trump and his team was then shared with Clinton, and we can somewhat confirm this, by acknowledging the fact that the Federal Bureau of Investigation sent their agents to Rome to meet with Christopher Steele, former MI6 agent, and the face behind the Clinton Campaign-funded Fusion GPS Trump dossier. This is a serious crime. The Federal Bureau of Investigation directly interfered or attempted to interfere in the 2016 Presidential elections by not only assisting an entity funded by Hillary Clinton, but apparently spying on American citizens, illegally, who were involved in the Trump Campaign, and later sharing that information with employees of Hillary Clinton, via Fusion GPS.

This means that the 2016 Democratic Elections of our nation's the Constitutional Republic were, in fact, not democratic, since the Federal Government, led by the Obama Regime, interfered in them to attempt to change the outcome. It's very disturbing. “So now we're trying to figure out, as you know, why we're investigating the State Department, we know there are some major irregularities at the State Department, and we're trying to figure out how this information, about Mr. Papadopoulos of all people, who was supposedly meeting with some folks in London, how that made it over across into the FBI’s hands,” Nunes added (More)

(UPDATE) LIBERALS DON'T TAKE CRIMINAL REFERRALS SERIOUSLY

STOP PRESS: Justice Department Inspector General Horowitz sends criminal referral of former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe to US Attorney for prosecution. The dominoes are finally starting to fall.

As we reported yesterday eleven House Republicans are calling on Attorney General Jeff Sessions to prosecute a handful of individuals, including former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, ex-FBI Director James Comey, and former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe. Liberals and the media are maling light of the action, but in fact these referrals are already being acted upon by the Attorney General.

Sessions has already and repeatedly made it clear that he will act on these referrals and other potential criminal activity by former Obama officials after DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz issues his final report detailing the findings from his 15 month-long investigation into potential criminal wrongdoing by deep state DOJ and FBI personnel during the 2016 election campaign. That investigation also covers the FBI/DOJ handling of its sham investigation into the Clinton email scandal, and thus impacts every one of the Obama-era officials named in the DeSantis letter. FISA ORDER RUSHED TO SPY ON TRUMP CAMPAIGN

Secret text messages between then-FBI agents Peter Strzok and Lisa Page show Justice Department and FBI officials may have speeded up the FISA warrant application process to spy on the Trump campaign.
Communications uncovered by congressional investigators reveal the FBI may have improperly coordinated with Department of Justice officials in an effort to pressure those officials to expedite a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance warrant on a former volunteer with the President Trump’s campaign, congressional officials said. Text messages obtained by investigators reveal that FBI Special Agent Peter Strzok and his colleague Lisa Page were discussing the FBI’s difficulty in obtaining the warrant to spy on Carter Page, who worked for a short stint with the Trump campaign. The FBI obtained its first warrant to spy on Page on Oct. 19, 2016, and there would be three subsequent renewals every 90 days for the warrant on Mr. Page.

The communications, which were first released last week and obtained by congressional investigators, occurred roughly one month before the Page warrant was obtained. The communications suggested that there was possible coordination by Obama White House officials, the CIA and the FBI into the investigation into President Donald Trump’s campaign, as reported earlier. In one of the September 2016 text message chains, Strzok tells Lisa Page about an argument that occurred with former DOJ prosecutor David Laufman. Laufman, who was then chief of the DOJ’s National Security Division’s Counterintelligence and Export Control Section, oversaw the probe into former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server, as well as the alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election. Laufman left the DOJ earlier this year citing personal reasons for leaving his post, according to news reports. (More)

STRZOK KNEW FISA JUDGE RUDOLPH CONTRERAS

The judge, Rudolph Contreras, was recused from handling the case just days after accepting the guilty plea of President Donald Trump’s former national security adviser who was charged with making false statements to federal investigators. The text messages about Contreras between controversial Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) lawyer Lisa Page and Peter Strzok, the senior FBI counterintelligence official who was kicked off Robert Mueller’s special counsel team, were deliberately hidden from Congress, multiple congressional investigators told The Federalist. In the messages, Page and Strzok, who are rumored to have been engaged in an illicit romantic affair, discussed Strzok’s personal friendship with Contreras and how to leverage that relationship in ongoing counterintelligence matters. (VIDEO) INTERVIEW MARK LEVIN WITH DEVIN NUNES

Mar 4, 2018 Part 1: Devin Nunes and Mark Levin dissect Obamagate. Part 2part 3.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., informed the Justice Department on Thursday that the FBI may have violated criminal statutes when it sought Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrants to spy on ex-Trump foreign policy adviser Carter Page. The move comes two days after Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that the DOJ's inspector general will investigate the alleged FISA abuses. In a letter sent to Sessions, Nunes wrote that the apparent use of the controversial "Trump dossier" to make the case for spying on Page suggests a "clear violation" of FBI protocols because it contained unverified information. And such a breach of protocol may have violated five criminal statutes, including conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and contempt of court. Nunes asked Sessions to answer two questions. One concerns the FBI protocols that appear to have been violated, via the 2011 Domestic Investigations and Operations Guide. Nunes asked if there has been an update to the October 2011 version, which said "only documented and verified information may be used to support FBI applications to the court.” The second question asked what steps the DOJ or the FBI has taken to "hold accountable those officials who violated these protocols," if the guide has not been updated since 2011. Nunes is demanding a response by March 8 (More)

(VIDEO) WHY THE SCHIFF MEMO HURTS DEMOCRATS

The Schiff Memo Harms Democrats More Than It Helps Them
It confirms that the FBI and the DOJ relied heavily on uncorroborated, third-hand, anonymous sources in their FISA application.
    By Andrew C. McCarthy
Maybe Adam Schiff has more of a sense of humor than I’d have given him credit for. The House Intelligence Committee’s ranking Democrat begins his long-awaited memo — the minority response to the Nunes memo that was penned by staffers of the committee’s Republican majority — by slamming Chairman Devin Nunes’s unconscionable “risk of public exposure of sensitive sources and methods for no legitimate purpose.” The Schiff memo, which has been delayed for weeks because the FBI objected to its gratuitous effort to publicize highly classified intelligence, including methods and sources, then proceeds to tell its tale through what appear to be scores of blacked-out redactions of information Schiff pushed to expose.

Heavy Reliance on Steele Dossier Confirmed
The FBI and the Justice Department heavily relied on the Steele dossier’s uncorroborated allegations. You know this is true because, notwithstanding the claim that “only narrow use” was made “of information from Steele’s sources,” the Democrats end up acknowledging that “only narrow use” actually means significant use — as in, the dossier was the sine qua non of the warrant application. The memo concedes that the FISA-warrant application relied on allegations by Steele’s anonymous Russian hearsay sources that (More)

House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes has sent a series of questions about the Trump dossier to a number of current and former government officials. The committee did not specify to whom Nunes sent the questions, but a spokesman said the letter has gone to more than 20 recipients. The questions concern when the recipients first became aware of "the information contained in the Steele dossier," referring to the compilation of anti-Trump allegations compiled during the 2016 campaign by former British spy Christopher Steele. The letter asks who the recipients may have shared dossier information with. They ask when the recipient first learned that the dossier was financed by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee. They ask when President Obama was made aware of the information in the dossier. And more. The letter asks for answers by March 2. ⏩ House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes next plans to investigate the role former CIA Director John Brennan and other Obama intelligence officials played in promoting the salacious and unverified Steele dossier on Donald Trump -- including whether Brennan perjured himself in public testimony about it. Nunes plans to soon release a separate report detailing the Obama State Department’s role in creating and disseminating the dossier -- which has emerged as the foundation of the Obama administration's Russia “collusion” investigation. Among other things, the report will identify Obama-appointed diplomats who worked with partisan operatives close to Hillary Clinton to help ex-British spy Christopher Steele compile the dossier, sources say. “Those are the first two phases” of Nunes' multipart inquiry, a senior investigator said. “In phase three, the involvement of the intelligence community will come into sharper focus.” (More

(ANALYSIS) THE MEANING OF SUSAN RICE CYA MAIL

Scott wrote this morning about the extraordinary email that National Security Advisor Susan Rice wrote to herself at 12:15 on January 20, 2017, within minutes of when President Trump was inaugurated. It must have been her last act, more or less, before she vacated the White House. So obviously the email was important to her. But why would it be important to send an email to herself (the only person copied was one of her aides)? If you read the email, which Scott posted along with Senator Grassley’s letter to Rice, it is obvious that it is a CYA [cover your ass] memo. But the question is, whose A is being C’d? Most attention, so far, has focused on the first two paragraphs of the email, which describe a meeting that occurred around two weeks earlier. The participants included Barack Obama, Joe Biden, James Comey, Sally Yates–who turns up like a bad penny whenever skulduggery is afoot–and Rice: (More)

CARTER PAGE MEMBER OF CLINTON TRANSITION TEAM

Carter Page sat on a campaign committee that met only once during the campaign. And yet the FBI relied on Page to continue to spy on Donald Trump, his campaign members, his family and then his Transition Team and administration. The FBI sought FISA warrants four times to spy on Carter Page.  The warrants on Page then gave the Deep State access to spy on all of the Trump campaign officials. According to reports from 2016 Carter Page was previously working as an undercover informant for the FBI. And now this… Does that mean Carter Page was sent into the Trump campaign as an "insurance" Trojan horse to spy on Trump?

Carter Page was a member of the Clinton administration Transition Team
Carter Page previously worked with the Clinton Administration transition team in 1992-1993 while serving as a Research Fellow on the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) on Capitol Hill. During his Fellowship, HASC Chairman Les Aspin was selected by President Clinton as the Secretary of Defense in December 1992. From May 1993 – December 1994, Carter went on to serve as the Arms Control Action Officer for Counterproliferation Policy in the Nuclear Affairs and International Negotiations Branch of the Navy Staff in the Pentagon. MEMO WAR: SCHIFF SETS BOOBY TRAPS FOR TRUMP

Feb. 6, 2018 Mark Dice: Look what I found!

Yesterday was Troll Schiff Day. It is suspected Schiff put classified stuff on purpose in his memo, just so as to force Trump to redact it and he can say Trump is covering things up. People sure are on to Democrat tricks! So much more fun to troll #SchiffForBrains

    WHITE HOUSE PROBES SCHIFF MEMO

The Schiff memo has arrived at the White House, where it will be screened by legal and security experts. Word has it, it's full of political innuendo and personal attacks on Republican members of the House Intel Ctee. In typical fashion, Adam Schiff is very worried about political WH redactions.

⏩ Chairman Nunes is now seeking the actual transcripts of the FISA court deliberations between the Obama DoJ and FBI officials and the Obama-appointed FISA court judges who rubber-stamped each of their FISA applications for orders to spy on Trump advisers (more).

⏩ In the meantime the Nunes memo raises the question: Did FBI violate Woods Procedures?
There are strict rules requiring that each and every fact presented in an FBI request to electronically spy on a U.S. citizen be extreme-vetted for accuracy — and presented to the court only if verified. There’s no dispute that at least some, if not a great deal, of information in the anti-Trump “Steele dossier” was unverified or false. Former FBI director James Comey testified as much himself before a Senate committee in June 2017. Comey repeatedly referred to “salacious” and “unverified” material in the dossier, which turned out to be paid political opposition research against Donald Trump funded first by Republicans, then by the Democratic National Committee and the Hillary Clinton campaign. Presentation of any such unverified material to the Federal Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court to justify a wiretap would appear to violate crucial procedural rules, called “Woods Procedures,” designed to protect U.S. citizens. Yet Comey allegedly signed three of the FISA applications on behalf of the FBI. Deputy Director Andrew McCabe reportedly signed one and former Attorney General Sally Yates, then-Acting Deputy Attorney General Dana Boente and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein each reportedly signed one or more. DEMS LEAK WEAK REBUTTAL TO NUNES MEMO

Feb. 3, 2018 Stephan Molineux: The Truth About The FISA Memo | FBI/DOJ Exposed

Jerry Nadler’s Leaked Rebuttal of the Nunes Memo Is Very Weak
    by Andrew McCarthy
Representative Jerrold Nadler of New York, the senior Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, has written a six-page response to the FISA-abuse memo published Friday by the committee’s Republican staffers under the direction of Chairman Devin Nunes (R., Calif.). I won’t get sidetracked by the fact that Nadler’s “Dear Democratic Colleague” letter has been “exclusively obtained” by NBC News — i.e., that it was leaked to the media, whereas the so-called Nunes memo was provided to committee Democrats before publication so they could seek changes. The Nunes memo had to be subjected to a rules-based process because of classified-information issues. The Nadler memo does not seem to contain classified information; it just responds to what the Republicans have produced, which is now public record.
I don’t agree with Jerry Nadler’s politics, but he is an able lawyer. What surprises me about his retort is how weak it is. He posits four points, the last two of which are strictly political red meat. Of the other two, one provides an inaccurate explanation of the probable-cause standard in the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA); the other is an ill-conceived argument about Christopher Steele’s credibility. (...) Steele is not the source of the information. For purposes of the warrant application, he is the purveyor of information from other sources. The actual sources of the information are Steele’s informants — anonymous Russians providing accounts based on hearsay three- and four-times removed from people said to have observed the events alleged. ⏩ The House Intelligence chair and his team found other examples of politically motivated "wrongdoing" across various agencies, including the FBI, the broader Justice Department, and the State Department (...) there could be as many as five additional memos or reports (...) there's no current plan to use the same extraordinary and highly controversial process they just went through, with a vote and ultimately a presidential approval to declassify sensitive information. UNVERIFIED 'DOSSIER' ESSENTIAL PART OF FISA ORDER

Feb 2, 2018 Fox News: Bret Baier interview with Devin Nunes, chairman of the House Intel Ctee on the FISA memo.

HOUSE PERMANENT SELECT COMMITTEE ON INTELLIGENCE RELEASES FISA MEMO UNREDACTED

    The bottom line:
    • Andrew McCabe confirmed that no FISA warrant would have been sought from the FISA Court without the [questionable, unverified] Steele dossier information.
    • The political origins of the Steele dossier were known to senior DOJ and FBI officials, but excluded from the FISA applications.
    • DOJ official Bruce Ohr met with Steele beginning in the summer of 2016 and relayed to DOJ information about Steele's bias. Steele told Ohr that he, Steele, was desperate that Donald Trump not get elected president and was passionate about him not becoming president.
    • And it's only the beginning! There's still the report of the Inspector General in the offing.
    • There's another document — an 8 page criminal referral - filed with the Justice Department by Chuck Grassley and Lindsey Graham (tweet).
    • Special Counsel Mueller is asking for a 90 day extension before sentencing General Flynn (tweet). Is Mueller calling it a day!

(VIDEO) BOMBSHELLS AHEAD OF FISA MEMO RELEASE

The President has de-classified the memo and the White House has returned the memo to the House Intel Ctee. Nunes can release its 4 page summary at any moment (or wait until Monday).
    • FBI Officials have cleared the FISA Memo as factually correct (more).
    • It is rumored to contain four explosive revelations that have not yet been revealed (more).
    • And it's only the beginning!
    • Despite urgent requests from the FBI, the Ctee has said it will release the memo without redactions and names censored (more).
    • There's still the report of the Inspector General in the offing.
    • Not without importance, "all roads leading to Clinton (& watch - Obama too)". There's another document — an 8 page criminal referral - filed with the Justice Department by Chuck Grassley & Lindsey Graham (tweet). John Solomon reveals:
Congressional Republicans are seeking to make the case that the FBI’s investigation into President Trump’s campaign and possible collusion with Russia was based on flawed or politically tainted evidence connected to partisans loyal to Hillary Clinton. (...) Another document — an eight-page criminal referral filed with the Justice Department by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) — is also part of the GOP case. While the FBI has been protesting the release of the Nunes memo, it has been working behind the scenes to vet a version of the Grassley-Graham memo, which is expected to be released in redacted form soon. (...)
Republicans believe both documents will back up arguments that evidence used to justify the FBI’s probe came from partisans loyal to Clinton, sources said. They are also expected to play into arguments from some Republicans that special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russia is based on false information. Those suggestions have provoked a backlash from Democrats. Some Republicans have also expressed concerns, with GOP leaders saying Mueller should be allowed to continue his work. Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) on Tuesday backed releasing the Nunes memo but also offered support for Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. (More)

⏩ Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi meanwhile are yelling "Russians"! That the actual target of the memo is actually Special Counsel Mueller. Well, there's that, but you may call it 'collateral damage'. Thomas Wictor is opining that the release of the memo is in truth a distraction for Special Counsel Mueller postponing the trial of General Flynn (tweet). It may well signal Mueller is calling it a day! But that's another subject altogether.

⏩ Paul Ryan meanwhile is trying to explain to those in the Democrat frame of mind, what the memo is about. Far from an attack on the FBI, this is cleansing the organization from politicized bad apples (although something is clearly wrong with its autocratic culture).

(VIDEO) FISA MEMO: LAST DITCH EFFORTS TO BLOCK RELEASE

Update -- FBI director Wray is threatening to resign if the memo is released. Breaking news -- Nancy Pelosi is demanding speaker Ryan fires Intel Ctee chairman Nunes because of amendments made to the document approved by the Ctee last Monday. We explain herebelow. Latest reports are that the memo may only be released tomorrow morning. This afternoon at 06:30pmET the President is addressing the GOP retreat in West Virginia. In the meantime the following back and forth occurred between the Repubs and Dems in the House Intel Ctee on the one hand and the White House and the IC on the other.
In a last minute effort to block the executive approvals, Minority Chair of the House Intelligence Committee, Adam Schiff, claimed last night there were changes to the legislative work product. Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes shared with Adam Schiff some minor edits to the drafted memo that resulted from the executive branch (FBI Director Wray) making a request upon initial review:

Counting on people not to know the FBI is part of the executive branch, Schiff claimed, wrongly, that any changes made the initial work product contrary to that which was approved for submission by the House Intelligence Committee. A desperate attempt to stop the declassification by the White House, as quickly pointed out by Chairman Nunes:

In the back-and-forth it becomes evident why we stated last week to pay attention to the process. The memo is classified legislative work product of the legislative branch. The legislative branch is asking the executive branch to declassify the memo. When Devin Nunes invited FBI Director Christopher Wray to review the memo on Sunday night he was inviting the executive branch to preview the work-product prior to submission. It would be ordinary for any minor executive-branch-requested adjustments to be made, prior to submission/approval for executive declassification. That’s exactly what happened. (...)
Additionally, Minority Chair Adam Schiff, along with most corporate media, are trying to present the intelligence community (DOJ/FBI) as a fourth branch of government. As silly as it sounds, former DNI James Clapper attempted the same argument on Wednesday night during a CNN appearance. They’re not. All of the intelligence community resides under the executive branch and the Chief Executive is President Donald Trump. (...) As much as the formal and appropriate process annoys Representative Adam Schiff, all of the correct procedures have been followed. (More

⏩ In the meantime the Daily Beast engaged in some fake news, saying Nunes did not deny he wrote the memo in coordination with the White House:

⏩ Yesterday the FBI issued a warning of "grave concerns" over the memo, saying there are "material omissions of fact that fundamentally impact the memo’s accuracy"

    ⏩ Some general observations:
